OC 평통 신년하례식에서 아리조나 자문위원 3명 수상 영예

민주평통 오렌지 샌디에고 협의회(회장 김동수)가 지난 4일 캘리포니아주 애나하임에 있는 J.W.매리엇 호텔에서 60여 명이 참석한 가운데 신년 하례식 및 1분기 정기회의를 개최했다.

이날 행사는 신년하례식, 의장 표창장 전수식, 만찬 및 특별 강연, 회의 순으로 진행됐다.

김동수 평통 회장의 신년하례 인사말이 있은 후 서덕자 피닉스 라스베가스 지회장이 개회선언을 했다.

표창장 전수식에선 자문위원 23명이 수상의 영예를 안은 가운데 아리조나 출신 위원들 중엔 서덕자 지회장, 배석준 자문위원이 LA 총영사상을, 그리고 강지웅 위원이 평통 회장상을 각각 수상했다.

이 자리에서 OC평통은 튀르키예 지진 성금에 동참한 자문 위원들의 성금 2500달러를 한인회 조봉남 회장에게 전달했다.

이날 김동수 회장은 남은 6개월간 임기동안 4월1일-이낙연 전 국무총리 초청 평화강연회(로스 코요테스 컨트리 클럽 오후 4시) 5월20일-청소년 통일 골든벨 퀴즈대회(OC한인회관), 6월 25일-한국전 기념행사 6.25전쟁에서 OC한상 세계대회로(힐크레스트 팍, 풀러튼), 7월 10일-OC세계한상대회 후원 골프대회(로스 코요테스 컨트리 클럽) 등의 계획을 발표했다.

한편 장태한 교수(UCR교수, 김영옥 연구소 소장)는 ‘잊혀진 영웅 김영옥 대령’ 이라는 주제로 특별강연을 했다.

The Democratic Peacemakers Orange San Diego Council (Chairman Kim Dong-soo) held its New Year's Day ceremony and first quarterly meeting at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Anaheim, California, on April 4 with more than 60 attendees.

The event consisted of a New Year's Day ceremony, the presentation of the Chairman's Citation, a dinner and special lecture, and a meeting.

After the New Year's greetings from Chairman Kim Dong-soo, Phoenix Las Vegas Chapter President Seo Deok-ja made the opening declaration.

At the award ceremony, 23 members of the advisory board were honored with awards, and among the members from Arizona, Seo Deok-ja, the chapter president, Bae Seok-jun, the consul general of Los Angeles, and Kang Ji-woong, the chairman of the advisory board, each received an award.

During the ceremony, OC Pyongtong presented a donation of $2,500 from the advisory board members to the Korean American Association's President Cho Bong-nam for the earthquake relief efforts in Turkiye.

At the event, President Kim announced plans for the remaining six months of his term, including April 1-Peace Lecture by former Prime Minister Nakyeon (Los Coyotes Country Club, 4 p.m.), May 20-Youth Unification Golden Bell Quiz Contest (OC Korean Center), June 25-Korean War Commemoration from the Korean War to the OC World Congress (Hillcrest Park, Fullerton), and July 10-Golf Tournament sponsored by the OC World Congress (Los Coyotes Country Club).

Meanwhile, Prof. Tae-Han Jang (UCR Professor, Director of the Kim Young-Ok Institute) delivered a special lecture on the topic of 'Forgotten Hero Colonel Kim Young-Ok'.
