미주한인장로회 신학대학교 명예총장인 서정운 목사를 초청한 온라인 웨비나 강연이 6월 23일(수) 오후 7시부터 2시간 가량 진행됐다.

선교사 및 목회자 독서모임이 주관한 이 모임은 아리조나 장로교회 유튜브 채널인 '아장 TV'를 통해 생중계 됐다. 

아리조나 장로교회 담임 조용호 목사가 사회를 보는 가운데 기도에 이어 안맹호 선교사가 강사를 소개했다.

서정운 총장은 이날 '교회와 선교'라는 주제로 강의했다.

'통전적 선교'에 대한 정의를 전한 그는 "선교가 있고 교회가 있다. 선교가 교회를 결정한다"고 말했다.

선교의 목표는 하나님의 나라이며 하나님의 나라란 하나님의 통치를 의미하는 것이라는 그는 '샬롬'은 조물주와 피조물의 온전한 조화의 상태라고도 덧붙였다.

섬김과 사랑의 헌신이 선교의 기본적 방식이라는 강사는 "교회는 선교의 열매이자 하나님 선교의 도구다. 교회는 물질이 아니므로 누가 교회인가라고 물어야 한다"고 말했다.

교회의 본질이 무엇인지에 대해선 하나님의 사람들이고 예수님의 제자공동체라고 말한 서 총장은 "교회의 사명이 선교다.  땅끝까지 복음을 증거하고 전파하고 하나님 나라를 구현하는 것"이라고 설명했다.

교회의 성장요건은 예수에게 충성하는 교회, 그의 몸인 교회에 충성하는 교회, 그의 몸의 일인 선교에 충성하는 교회라고 전했다.

선교의 세가지 형태는 말로 전하는 것, 복음적인 인격을 갖추는 것, 삶의 현장에서 복음적으로 사는 것이라고 분류한 강사는 "교회가 왜 비선교적이 되고 그리스도인이 비선교적인 사람이 되는가"라고 질문을 던지고 "그건 한마디로 '욕심과 탐욕' 때문"이라고 규정했다.

교회 내에서 원망과 분쟁으로 상처 입는 일이 많은 것에 대해 그는 '여러가지 욕심에 끌린 바 되어 항상 배우나 끝내 진리의 지식에 이르지 못한다'는 디모데후서 3장6절의 내용으로 대신 답하고 "삶의 어느 한순간도 유혹과 타락에서 안전하지 않다는 본 훼퍼의 말을 새겨 우리 모두가 긴장하고 유혹을 물리치며 하나님 말씀에 순종하며 절제하려 노력해야 한다"고 권면했다.

성경을 우리 자신을 위해 읽기 보다는 우리에게 거슬러 읽어야 한다는 말에 이어 강사는 "개인적 행복을 위해 기도하는 것은 당연하지만 다만 그것이 신앙생활 최고, 최상의 무조건적인 목표가 되어서는 교회다운 교회, 활력있는 선교를 하기 어렵다"고 지적했다.

1952년, 삼위일체 하나님의 선교로 이해하고 주장하게 되는 결정적인 영향을 끼친 요하네스 호켄다이크의 이야기를 전한 강사는 세계의 교회화와 진정한 복음화란 같은 의미가 아니라고 말했다

어떻게 하면 교회가 선교적인 될 수 있는가라는 점에 대해선 오직 성령이 임할 때만 파워를 받고 선교할 수 있다고 서 총장은 강조하고 예루살렘 다락방에 모여 기도드린 120명으로부터 시작된 초대교회, 1906년 엘에이 아주사 스트리트 대부흥운동, 1907년 평양 대부흥회 등을 성령이 역사한 증거로 들었다.

이런 성령의 불가항력적인 역사가 일어난 요인으로 이 세 지역 사람들의 공통점 중 하나가 단순하고 겸손했었던 사실을 전한 강사는 "겸손한 자에게 은혜를 주신다는 것이 하나님의 약속"이라고 말했다.

평양 대부흥회를 자세히 설명한 그는 "오늘 우리가 이렇게 있는 것과 한국의 역사는 평양 대부흥회와 떼어놓고 생각할 수 없다"고 그 영향력에 의미를 부여하며 "같은 선상에서, 여러 시대를 거쳐 일어난 수많은 부흥의 역사 없이는 지금 우리가 이 모습으로 존재할 순 없는 것"이라고 했다.

기독교가 쇠퇴하고 선교 동력이 약화되고 있는 이 비상한 시기에 복음을 분석하고 논란하기 보다는 복음을 믿고 복음대로 사는 일에 더욱 힘을 써야 한다고 강조한 서정운 총장은 "어렵고 힘든 시기이지만 성령의 능력이 역사하는 교회가 되고 성령의 활력이 더욱 약동하게 되길 기원한다"며 설교를 마쳤다.

질의응답 후 참석자들에게 준비된 경품을 나눠주는 추첨을 끝으로 이날 집회는 마무리 됐다.

The online webinar lecture, which invited Pastor Seo Jung-woon, honorary president of the American Korean Presbyterian Association, took place for about two hours from 7 p.m. on June 23 (Wednesday).

Organized by a reading group of missionaries and pastors, the gathering was broadcast live on "Wajang TV," a YouTube channel of the Presbyterian Church in Arizona.  

While pastor Cho Yong-ho, a homeroom teacher at the Presbyterian Church in Arizona, was hosting the event, missionary Ahn Maeng-ho introduced the instructor following prayer.

Suh Jung-woon gave a lecture on the theme of "Church and Mission."

Delivering the definition of "conventional missionary work," he said, "There is a missionary and there is a church. The mission decides the church," he said.

The goal of missionary work is to be a country of God and the kingdom of God means the rule of God, he added, "Shalom is a state of complete harmony between the Creator and the Creator."

The lecturer, whose devotion to service and love is the basic way of missionary work, said, "The church is the fruit of missionary work and a tool for God's mission. The church is not a substance, so we have to ask who is the church," he said.

Regarding what the nature of the church is, Suh said, "The mission of the church is missionary work.  "It is to prove and spread the gospel to the ends of the earth and to realize the kingdom of God," he explained.

The church's growth requirements are a church loyal to Jesus, a church loyal to his body, and a church loyal to his body's one-man mission.

The instructor, who classified the three forms of missionary work as verbal transmission, evangelical character, and evangelical living in the field of life, asked the question, "Why does the church become non-preachable and the Christians become non-previous people?"and labeled it "in a word because of greed and greed."

As for the many cases of resentment and conflict within the church, he replied instead with the content of Dimoddehu's Section 3:6 that "I have been drawn to many desires and cannot always reach the knowledge of truth," and recommended, "We should all try to be nervous, obedient, and restrained by taking into account the words of Bon Pferer that no single moment of life is safe from temptation and degradation."

Following the remark that we should read the Bible back to us rather than for ourselves, the lecturer pointed out, "It is natural to pray for personal happiness, but it is difficult to do church-like churches and vigorous missions only if it is the best and best unconditional goal of religious life."

In 1952, a lecturer who told the story of Johannes Hokendike, who had the decisive influence of understanding and asserting the mission of the Trinity God, said, "The churchization of the world and the true evangelization of the gospel are not the same meaning."

On how the church can become a missionary, Suh stressed that it can only be powered by the Holy Spirit and cited the early church, which started with 120 people who prayed in Jerusalem attic, the 1906 L.A. Ajusa Street Daebuheung Movement, and the 1907 Pyongyang Daebuheunghoe as evidence of the Holy Spirit's history.

"God's promise is to give grace to the humble," said the lecturer, who conveyed the fact that one of the three regions' commonalities was simple and humble as a factor in this invincible history of the Holy Spirit.

"Today's existence and the history of Korea cannot be separated from the Pyongyang Daebu Heunghoe," he said, explaining the details of the Pyongyang Daebu Heunghoe. "On the same line, without the numerous history of revival that has taken place over the years, we cannot exist in this way."

"It is a difficult and difficult time, but I hope that the power of the Holy Spirit will become a church where the power of the Holy Spirit is recorded and the vitality of the Holy Spirit will be more active," said Suh Jung-woon, president of the university, who stressed that the gospel should be more devoted to living in the gospel than analyzing and debating the gospel at this extraordinary time when Christianity is declining and missionary power is weakening.

 

After the question and answer session, the rally ended with a raffle to distribute the prepared prizes to the participants.
